AI & Catch A Fire
How we use AI tools to fuel our creative fire, not replace the spark of inspiration.
One of the great things about the creative industry is the ever-changing way we work. We get to try new things, take risks, and push the envelope as far as our clients allow. So when artificial intelligence (AI) entered the picture, minds started racing about how we could tap into this seemingly limitless tool. At Catch A Fire, we see AI not as a replacement for human creativity but as a springboard that enhances how we bring our ideas to life. Here’s our take on the potential of AI within our work and the broader creative industry.

Embracing AI: A Springboard for Creativity
At Catch A Fire, we like to think of AI as a learner driver: we believe in it, want it to succeed, and see it as an inevitable future, but we aren’t handing over the keys just yet! While it may be tempting to type “create blog post” in ChatGPT, we’re not quite there. AI, though not autonomous, is absolutely effective. It can assist in research, summarising data, offering intriguing perspectives for thought starters, and, my personal favourite, using AI-generated imagery to bring obscure concepts to life. (Good luck finding a stock image of a moose in a hockey jersey sipping maple syrup on a snowy mountain!)
Let’s be clear: AI is a tool, not a takeover. The heart and soul of our creative process remain imperfectly human (after all, where’s the fun in perfection?). The passion, emotion, and intuition our team brings to each project can’t be replicated by an algorithm. AI can suggest, but it can’t inspire; it can analyse, but it can’t empathise. Iron Man is the hero, JARVIS is just there for the assist.
Catch AI Fire
At Catch A Fire, we’ve begun integrating AI into several areas of our agency. From a strategy perspective, various AI tools help analyse data, summarise lengthy documents or interviews, identify trends, and discover insights that inform our creative strategies. This ensures our campaigns are both impactful and resonate with our target audience. This is not a replacement for our strategic approach but rather a streamlined one. Allowing us more time to focus our energy on adding our unique input to create something truly effective.
From a creative standpoint, the introduction of AI, particularly image generation tools, is a game-changer. Our creatives now have the ability to transform abstract concepts into vivid, captivating images, enhancing our ability to communicate ideas effectively. We can also tweak and evolve initial concepts, experimenting with different paths leading to more innovative ideas.

Ethical: Do the Right Think
As with everything we do at Catch A Fire, we always try to approach things as fairly as possible and believe it is essential to maintain an ethical perspective.
We are committed to using AI responsibly to enhance our work. It is an assistant to bring our ideas to life, not to steal someone else’s. This means ensuring transparency in how we its used, having clear guidelines on using these tools, and avoiding plagiarism in AI-generated content. AI is there to assist us and help us bring new ideas to life. In the words of Bruce Lee, “Absorb what is useful, discard what is not, add what is uniquely your own.”
Use It or Lose It: AI’s Influence in the Creative Industry
The creative industry recognises AI’s massive potential, both good and bad. While its capabilities are undeniable and improving rapidly, there are concerns about its place in the creative world, with fears it could water down creative ideas and take jobs away. However you view it, it’s clear AI is becoming an integral part of creative work across many agencies. According to a report by McKinsey, companies that have embraced AI have seen a significant increase in both their productivity and creativity, with 66% stating AI helps them gain a “competitive edge.”
The Best is Yet to Come
At Catch A Fire, we believe in enthusiastically embracing this evolving tool while staying true to our values and love for the work we do. Evolution is inevitable! Horses were great, but a car will get you there faster. AI is here to stay, and we are excited to explore its growing capabilities, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible and delivering impactful work that ignites change for purpose-led brands.
