This year’s edition of London Climate Action Week (LCAW) brought together thousands of climate leaders to chart the path forward for global climate action. A month has passed since the largest edition of the event yet, and we are reflecting on some of the key themes that have catalysed urgent action to accelerate climate solutions on a global level. Here are some of our standout highlights.

Scaling Carbon Markets & Nature-Based Solutions

London Climate Action Week 2025 emphasised the need to expand both compliance and voluntary carbon markets with a focus on transparency and integrity. Nature-based solutions were explored to not only reduce emissions but also support ecosystems, local economies, and governance.

One key event, “Carbon You Can Count On: Science-Backed Credits for Nature & People,” hosted by Revalue, showcased the Ruvuma Wilderness Project, Africa’s largest community-led forest carbon initiative. This session highlighted how advanced technologies, including LiDAR and dynamic baselines, ensure the integrity and durability of nature-based carbon credits. Discussions also addressed the investment readiness of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) technologies and the evolving landscape of carbon credit schemes, emphasising the increasing rigour in monitoring and verification, which aim to ensure genuine impact and mitigate the risks of greenwashing.

Animal-Centred Public Engagement: A Creative Call to Action

Another highlight was the powerful exhibition of “The Herds”, a captivating city-wide art installation that brought awareness to animal advocacy with emotive climate storytelling. Life-size puppet animals roamed the streets of London, vividly illustrating the migration and survival challenges faced by wildlife due to climate change. This immersive performance was an artistic expression that inspired action and renewed our bond with the natural world, sparking meaningful conversations about biodiversity conservation and the human dimension of the climate crisis. It was also a valuable lesson on how unique methods of storytelling can spark real emotional connections to climate action, a valuable lesson for engaging audiences on a deeper and more impactful level.

Empowering Local to Global Action: From Grassroots to Global Solutions

LCAW 2025 underscored the transformative power of community-led climate solutions. One notable example was the Regen House event, a gathering that brought together farmers, scientists, policymakers, business leaders, activists, academics, and cultural changemakers to discuss scaling regenerative practices from the ground up. The event emphasised the importance of regenerating not only land but also trust, equity, and accountability across the entire food system. This collaborative approach serves as a powerful reminder that the food industry should take a holistic approach in creating sustainable, equitable, and environmentally responsible practices for the future.

London Climate Action Week moved the needle

In conclusion, LCAW 2025 was a transformative event that shifted the conversation from climate finance ambition to real-world implementation. The event demonstrated how robust biodiversity protections are not only essential for preserving ecosystems but also for shaping business and governance strategies. We saw how creative campaigns f or animal welfare can inspire widespread change, and how empowering communities remains the heart of meaningful climate progress.
